The lingering aftereffects of COVID-19 were first brought to light by patients themselves, who advocated for the recognition of “Long COVID” as a syndrome in its own right (Callard et al. 2021). Although Long Covid has been recognized academically since mid-2020 (Carfi et al. 2020), Long Covid patients continue to report being ignored, unrecognized, and dismissed by their healthcare providers.
A number of studies were published recently on the prevalence of symptoms in Long Covid. This article summarizes what we know from recent research.
